Ale’kelü is another name by which the Wayuu indigenous identify the mythical spider that taught them the variety of drawings that they express in their handicraft products. Under this name twenty six wayuu women from the community of Provincial to the South of La Guajira have created a store with the same name that link their weaving with the wayuu mythology, so this group of mothers head of household and their daughters weave wayuu bags, hammocks, straps capturing the iconography of the wayuu where they narrate in a symbolic way the way they see their surroundings. The women of Ale’kelü use quality threads to produce wayuu crafts with great richness of colors.
