Around one hundred and fifty Wayuu artisans from the communities of “El Ahumado” from Riohacha, Peroulia, Manzana and Carelapana through the “Pájaro” municipality of Manaure and others from the Alta Guajira join up the Walekett weavers collective, they have taken the name of the mythical spider who taught the wayuu to weave, this team of skilled weavers seeks to promote the activity of Wayuu crafts and responsible tourism towards a sustainable development that improves the quality of life of indigenous communities, in an organized, inclusive, ecological way , complying with necessary safety standards, offering quality products and services, implementing economic alternatives to producers and families in the community.
